Superb Disney fantasy-adventure on grand scale, from Jules Verne's novel. 19th-century scientist Lukas and sailor Douglas get involved with power-hungry Captain Nemo (Mason) who operates futuristic submarine. Memorable action sequences, fine cast make this a winner. Won Oscars for Art Direction and Special Effects. First filmed in 1916. Remade in 1997 as both a miniseries and made-for-TV movie.
